Academic Wings

Salwan Junior School is organised into two wings that carry a child through the primary years — the Montessori Wing for the early years, Nursery to KG, and the Primary Wing for Classes I to V.

Two Wings, One Journey

A learning home for every stage of the primary years

Each wing is built around where a child is in their growth. The Montessori Wing gives our youngest learners a safe, sensory-rich start; the Primary Wing then carries that curiosity into experiential, integrated learning for Classes I to V.

A world of infinite possibilities

The Montessori Wing is a citadel of learning, offering the highest quality education through an innovative, child-centric curriculum. Excellent resources and dedicated teachers support each child’s individual learning style, fostering self-confidence, a joy of learning, and leadership from the very first years.

Early childhood education is the foundation for all future learning. Moral and aesthetic development and character building matter as much as academics, as we nurture the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of every child.

Learning environment & facilities

Resource Room — Multiple Intelligence Room

Designed on Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences, this room creates an ambience of learning through experience. A cooking corner, reading corner, puppet theatre, puzzle corner, blocks, manipulatives, learning-wall elements, water and sand trays, balancing paths, river and hill stones, ring toss, and a playing tunnel build varied intelligences while inculcating sharing, caring, and responsibility. Free-play sessions reveal each child’s natural inclinations and bent of mind.

Reading Hub

An open, inviting space that draws children into a world of pictures, stories, and books — promoting brain development, creativity, language, and emotional growth. A good, always-accessible collection of age-appropriate literature tells every child that reading is valued and central to the learning journey.

Sensory Pathway

A series of guided movements — frog hops, spins, mazes — marked on the ground for children to follow and re-focus their energy through the day. Especially helpful for those who feel frustration, overstimulation, or sensory overload, it develops gross motor skills and re-centres attention.

Safety & Security

The Montessori Wing operates with the highest standards of child safety — so that every family can trust their little one is cared for.

Police-verified staff

Every staff member is police-verified before joining. Support staff wear designated uniforms and ID cards, and attendance is marked at the entry gate with frisking.

Secure campus

Only authorised persons may enter. No child is handed over to an unknown person without written authorisation and proper identification, and fire extinguishers are placed throughout.

CCTV coverage

Cameras are installed at all strategic locations — entry gates, corridors, and around the building.

Female attendants

Washrooms are clearly demarcated for students and staff. Only female attendants are on duty outside student washrooms, with regular sanitisation and constant supervision.

Good touch, bad touch

Children are gently sensitised to Good Touch and Bad Touch, building awareness and confidence in an age-appropriate way.

Disaster drills

A Disaster Management Committee conducts periodic fire and disaster drills. Evacuation plans and emergency numbers are displayed in every classroom, library, and corridor.

Building foundations for life

The Primary Wing gives young learners experiential learning opportunities that make concepts understandable and connect them to the real world through content knowledge, skill application, and attitude building.

An innovative, learner-centred approach runs through an integrated, activity-based curriculum — creative experiential strategies, exciting activities, and enriching experiences that build a strong foundation for all-round personality development. Children are encouraged to develop originality, creativity, and independence of thought alongside fundamental skill mastery.

A curriculum across three key areas

Scholastic aspect

Core subject disciplines that build strong, lasting fundamentals.

Co-scholastic aspect

Co-curricular activities that widen academic horizons and nurture the whole child.

Life-skills development

Skills for life, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.

Technology in the Primary Wing

A Microsoft Showcase School

The Primary Wing reflects the school’s recognition as a Microsoft Showcase School. Technology is integrated meaningfully across subjects — coding with Scratch, physical computing with Micro:bit, AI literacy, and digital creation with Adobe Express.

Eighteen of our teachers hold the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) designation, bringing cutting-edge pedagogical practice into daily classroom life.
